Our Business Model
How we combine prosthetic technology with innovative marketing opportunities for businesses
Our Beginning
Adopt-a-Paw was founded in 2025 by Michalis Fotiadis, a passionate technologist and animal lover from Athens, Greece. The initiative emerged from a powerful vision: to leverage cutting-edge 3D printing technology to revolutionize mobility solutions for dogs with limb differences.
After witnessing firsthand the prohibitive costs of traditional prosthetics for dogs (often €2,000-3,000), Michalis began researching and developing more affordable alternatives using advanced 3D printing technology. What started as a personal project quickly evolved into a mission to provide these life-changing devices to all dogs in need, completely free of charge.
Our Mission
At Adopt-a-Paw, our mission is to provide high-quality, custom-designed 3D printed prosthetic limbs for dogs while offering businesses a unique marketing opportunity. We offer prosthetics commercially with your business name engraved, providing you with brand exposure through our social media channels and website.
Our Vision
We envision a world where businesses can showcase their social responsibility through tangible, visible contributions. Through innovation, strategic partnerships, and social media exposure, we aim to make prosthetic technology a powerful marketing tool for forward-thinking companies.
Our Values
- Compassion for all animals
- Innovation in design and technology
- Accessibility regardless of financial means
- Excellence in craftsmanship and care
- Transparency in our operations
Meet Komis: Our First Patient

Komis is a six-year-old dog who lost his leg in a hunting accident. After surviving the devastating floods in Volos, he now lives in Mellisia. As our first patient, Komis has become the face of our initiative and the inspiration behind our mission.
When we first met Komis, he was struggling with mobility and the psychological impact of limb loss. Through our custom prosthetic design process, we were able to create a device perfectly tailored to his specific needs. Today, Komis is adapting well to his new prosthetic, gradually increasing his activity level and confidence.
His journey represents everything we stand for: innovation, compassion, and the belief that every dog deserves a chance at mobility regardless of circumstances. Komis received his prosthetic through our subsidized program, setting the standard for all our future projects.
Our Approach
Our approach to creating prosthetics combines traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. We've developed a comprehensive process that ensures each prosthetic is perfectly tailored to the individual dog's needs:
Assessment & Design
We begin with a thorough evaluation of the dog's condition, creating a fiberglass cast to capture exact anatomical details. This is then digitized using 3D scanning technology and transformed into a detailed digital model.
Production & Testing
Using advanced 3D printing technology, we create prototypes for testing and refinement. This iterative process ensures optimal fit, comfort, and functionality before the final prosthetic is produced.
Training & Support
We provide comprehensive training for both the dog and owner, with ongoing support and adjustments as needed. Our commitment doesn't end with delivery—we maintain relationships with all our patients throughout their journey.
Our Team
Adopt-a-Paw is led by Michalis Fotiadis, who combines expertise in 3D design, engineering, and a deep passion for animal welfare. While our team is small, we collaborate with veterinarians, animal rehabilitation specialists, and 3D printing experts to ensure the highest quality care for our canine patients.
Founder: Michalis Fotiadis
With a background in technology and a lifelong love for animals, Michalis founded Adopt-a-Paw in 2025 to bridge the gap between cutting-edge 3D printing technology and accessible veterinary care. His vision drives our initiative forward as we work to help more dogs in need.
After witnessing the transformative impact of custom prosthetics on Komis, our first patient, Michalis committed to making this technology available to all dogs in need, regardless of their owners' financial circumstances. His dedication to innovation and animal welfare continues to guide our mission.
Our Impact
Though we're a young initiative, our impact is already being felt. Each prosthetic we create costs 250+ euros to produce (90% less than traditional prosthetics). We offer these commercially to owners who can afford them, while providing them at no cost to qualified individuals with financial constraints and animal shelters through our subsidized program. This dual approach ensures sustainability while making mobility accessible to all dogs in need.
Cost Comparison
Traditional canine prosthetics can cost between €2,000-3,000, putting them out of reach for many pet owners. Our 3D printed alternatives cost just 250+ euros to produce, representing a 90% reduction in cost while maintaining high quality and customization.
Future Goals
As we grow, we aim to help more dogs throughout Greece and eventually expand our reach internationally. We're also committed to ongoing research and development to continually improve our prosthetic designs and manufacturing processes.
